Boy, I'm Glad I Pay for Earthquake Insurance

Apparently we are in a two-week period of increased earthquake risk here in the Pacific Northwest. Instead of our usual 0.0005 per cent chance of having a mega thrust earthquake, we have a 0.026 per cent chance. Do we have an earthquake kit? Um, well we've got a bunch of canned foods because canned beans were on sale. And we have a flashlight and some candles (with matches around here somewhere). Does that count? Do we have enough water to get us through the first 72 hours after an earthquake, as recommended by the emergency preparedness people? Um no. But don't worry, "there's water available too in a hot water tank and toilet reservoir." Thanks for the tip, BC Provincial Emergency Program!

...

OK, Danielle and I just discussed it. We really don't feel like we really have the room to store the 24L of water that would be necessary to sustain us for 72 hours. I mean, we live in a tiny 1 bedroom basement suite, right? Do you think 24L of wine would suffice?

If there's an earthquake, I'll be wanting the wine instead of the water, for sure!! Water does not make my head pleasantly fuzzy.
